Aberdare Town Football Club have chosen Prostate Cymru as their Chosen Charity for the 2020/2021 season.
With over 15 different teams ranging from under 7s to senior men’s and women’s and an incredible 240 players, Prostate Cymru are excited about the prospects of this partnership.
The football club has recently entered stage 2 of the current training guidelines and are hoping to start stage 3 in early September.
Speaking about the partnership, Club Secretary, David Sweet, said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with Prostate Cymru for the 2020/21 season. We hope that, together, we will be able to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other prostate related conditions, in the Cynon Valley and beyond. The partnership is a wonderful opportunity for us to promote the excellent work of Prostate Cymru and hopefully raise some money for them over the course of the season.”
Prostate Cymru will be hosting awareness sessions during a select few home games in Aberdare Town Football Club as well as having their specialist nurse and volunteer stand in attendance. Aberdare Town will be looking to have their teams fundraise and participate in some of Prostate Cymru’s internal events such as; The Big Walk, The Big Cycle, The Ray Murray Charity Golf Day and The Big Breakfast.
Owen Pugsley, from Prostate Cymru has said: “Prostate Cymru are delighted to be working with Aberdare Town FC for the upcoming 2020/21 season. The town has a great footballing heritage and a fantastic following, so we are really excited to educate them about prostate issues, while having fun along the way. Look out for our specialist nurse and awareness volunteers at some of the games next year. Help us save the males in Wales”
With no government funding, Prostate Cymru relies on the kindness and generosity of supporters and corporate partnerships to fulfil our key aims of raising awareness, supporting treatments, and funding research and innovation for prostate disease across Wales.
Throughout the partnership with Aberdare Town Football Club, Prostate Cymru will be raising awareness to a larger audience and be able to help more men in Wales than ever before.
