Congratulations to all those who took part in Saturday’s ‘Big Walk’ and a special thanks to Welsh Rugby Union coach Warren Gatland for his support.
A team of 70 walked from the Millennium Stadium to Kenfig Hill RFC last Saturday, an incredible total of 29.4 miles. The event was part of a number of fundraising activities organised to support the six Kenfig Hill members who will be facing an even tougher challenge in October- Mount Kilimanjaro.
The 70 trekkers were up bright and early to travel down from Kenfig Hill to the Millennium Stadium, where surprised guest Warren Gatland was ready to cheer the team on.
The walk began at 9am with the trekkers passing the finish line 9 hours later and having raised an over £8000! A huge thank you to the team and those who donated- you have helped to make a difference by not only raising funds but awareness around Wales!
The Kilimanjaro team have many more events planned to raise more funds ahead of their toughest challenge in October, including a Touch Rugby Tournament in August.
