Welcome to the first edition of the new Prostate Cymru newsletter. We are Wales’ leading prostate cancer charity, working with medical professionals in the fight against all prostate diseases, benign and malignant.
Our mission is to raise awareness, promote understanding and fund both the latest medical equipment and training of healthcare professionals.
We are a small team based in Cardiff, with volunteer groups operating mainly across the South East and South West regions, organically reaching out and growing in to all areas of Wales. Our goal is to improve Welsh prostate health all across the country.
We have established a number of high profile campaigns to raise awareness of the risks and signs of prostate cancer among the Welsh population. A programme of workplace talks and seminars to promote prostate disease and offer advice is available to companies, small and large, across Wales.
We have successfully campaigned for the establishment of Da Vinci Robotic Surgery for prostate cancer in Wales, with the first operation taking place at the University Hospital of Wales in September2014. We have set a bursary fund to help enable surgeons, doctors and nurses to be trained to operate with this state of the art robotic equipment.
Our programme of fundraising and awareness activities are essential; find out what you can do to help make a difference.
