The Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru were presented with a cheque of £2127.20 at a recent awareness evening on 27th April. These crucial funds were raised by The Cylch Cinio Hwlffordd (The Haverfordwest Welsh Dining Circle) through a very successful campaign that took place in November.
The Chairman of the Welsh speaking Cylch Cinio Hwlffordd, Simon Moffett (pictured presenting the cheque to John Daniels and Brian Harries of Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru) developed the idea of ‘Tashwedd’ which plays on the Welsh word for November- ‘Tachwedd’. The idea is based on the popular ‘Movember’.
The campaign began on the 1st November where men pledged to grow their facial hair for a month in return for sponsorship. Simon also established links with four Pembrokeshire pubs: The Pembroke Yeoman, Bristol Trader, The Vine Inn and the Rising Sun. These four pubs became ‘Tash Taverns’, where people could go to sponsor or to collect forms to take part in the campaign.
A huge thank you to Simon and to all those who took part and also supported the campaign. Your sponsorship will allow us to continue to fund research and increase awareness for the Welsh public.
