Over 60 golfers took part in the Dai Gravell Memorial Golf Day at Glyn Abbey Golf Club on Saturday 22nd August in aid of Prostate Cymru. Despite a slow start to the day due to wet weather, the playing finally began after 10am once the weather brightened up and the golfers, including Prostate Cymru Chairman Andy Thomas, enjoyed playing in the warm sunshine.
The popular golf day featured open team and individual stapleford events. The holes at Glyn Abbey Golf Course were sponsored for the day and the event organisers would like to thank all the sponsors for their support on the day. Additionally a yellow ball was presented to each competing team. If the team returned the yellow ball after the round they were awarded double points.
The overall winner of the day was Dyfrig Frater who scored 39 points. Prizes for best lady, best junior and best visitor were awarded to Noreen Jackman, Ben Jones and Colin Hopcroft respectively. The best team, winning by 123 points, were Gareth Jones, Danny Shiggins, Adrian Roach and Mike Daniels. Other competitions held on the day were longest drive and nearest the pin. The longest drive competition was won by Ian Rees and Ann Swistack. Mike Daniels of the winning team won nearest the pin on the 15th hole.
