Hundreds of people enjoyed the ‘Dance-A-Thon’ at Eddie Rocks, Quay Street, Haverfordwest as the venue hosted a 30hrs non-stop music event for charity. Doors opened 9pm on Friday 14th August and that was the start of the 30hrs DJ marathon for Toby Ellis, 102.5FM Radio Pembrokeshire presenter, Eddie Rocks resident DJ and one of the ‘P2P’ cyclists.
Toby spun the tunes for the entire 30hrs without any breaks in the songs. People of all ages got involved with under 18s taking over the ‘Dance-A-Thon’ between 6am-6pm with a group of children dancing the entire 12hrs! Then it was back to the over 18’s to finish it off, doors shutting at 3am on Sunday 16th August.
The event was organised as part of the fundraising efforts towards the ‘Pembs2Paris’ cycle challenge, in which 14 cyclists are peddling from Haverfordwest to Paris on Sunday 6th – Saturday 12th Sept, 100 miles per day and raising money for three chosen charities; Prostate Cymru, National Autistic Society and Riding for the Disabled.
The £1000 raised at the Dance-A-Thon will be split equally towards the charities.
Toby Ellis says ‘What a challenge, I had no idea how tough it would be but all the lovely messages and food supplies kept me going – the support was amazing! I’m really happy how much we raised for the charities and a big thanks to Mark Edwards at Eddie Rocks for allowing us to do this event – it was no easy task to organise!’
The cyclists leave County Hall this Sunday at 7.30 to embark on their ‘Pembs2Paris’ cycle challenge.
