Once again the St David’s based Penknife Club showed that they are the masters at raising money for charity whilst involving the community. In May of this year, for the second year running, they dedicated their family charity walk in the St David’s peninsula to Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru. This year the walk raised £1,684, which together with last year’s contribution of £1,423, has realised over £3,000 from the club for the work of Prostate Cymru.
The Club which attracts members from all walks of life has raised over £160,000 for deserving causes over the last ten years.
They are pictured above presenting the cheque to Dai Davies MBE and Judith Griffiths who are committee members of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru. Dai Davies commented “The Penknife Club and the community of St David’s continue to give huge support towards the work of Prostate Cymru and their fight against Prostate Cancer which claims 550 lives and affects 1 in 8 men in the Principality. This money will be used to both raise awareness and obtain equipment to fight this disease”.
