Huw Williams, of running group Llanmwyr Llyn Striders in Gwynedd, took on the Trailffest Half Marathon in Porthmadog on 26th September. Huw has completed half marathons and the Eryri marathon for charities including the British Heart Foundation and Save the Children previously but the Trailffest Half was his first race for Prostate Cymru.
A scenic route beginning in the industrial slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog and ending by the sea in Porthmadog, the Trailffest Half is one of the most beautiful marathon routes in the UK. The beginning of the race is unique as competitors travel to the start line by a steam train on the Ffestiniog Railway.
Despite the beauty of the route, Huw had to tackle deceptive climbs and challenging terrain during the route. Luckily the weather was on Huw’s side and he completed the race in an amazing two hours and thirty minutes.
Huw’s JustGiving page is still open for donations following his race: https://www.justgiving.com/HuwWilliams-Trailffest
