The recent British Lions test matches against New Zealand gripped the attention of rugby followers throughout Wales and no more so than in its smallest city of St Davids where both locals and visitors were up with the lark to enjoy the feast of rugby from the Southern Hemisphere.
In one local hostelry, The Farmers Arms, the manageress Kath James went a step further with the support of the owner, Oli Blakiston, by providing breakfasts for the rugby followers with all proceeds being donated to Prostate Cymru.
The inhabitants of St Davids have a great tradition of supporting worthwhile causes, with Prostate Cymru being one of them. Both Kath and her husband Les, who is a committee member of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru, have been superb supporters of the charity in both raising money and creating awareness of the realities of prostate cancer which affects one in eight Welshmen, which becomes one in the three if there is a family history, and causing 550 men to die each year in Wales from the disease.
