A team of 49 runners took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 1st October for Prostate Cymru. Cardiff Half Marathon is the second largest road race in the UK after the Great North Run. The popular annual 13.1 mile race took the runners from Team Prostate Cymru around the capital including Cardiff Bay and Roath Park. The runners had to complete the race in humid temperatures and persistent rain.
The members of Team Prostate Cymru were from across Wales and England and formed the charity’s largest team at the event to date. The team took on the challenging event to raise money and awareness for the charity, pledging to raise at least £200. Many runners were taking part to show support for family members, friends and members of the community who have experienced prostate issues such as benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. Some runners had experienced prostate cancer personally and ran to show their appreciation for the charity’s work.
Our brilliant team completed the Cardiff Half Marathon in impressive times ranging from one hour, twenty-six minutes and forty-six seconds to just over three hours. Prostate Cymru would like to congratulate all members of the team for their participation in the race and for choosing to support the charity.
