The Teifi Valley Vintage Club, a group affiliated to the National Vintage Tractor & Engine Club, presented a cheque for £1500 to Prostate Cymru on Thursday 9th November at The Emlyn Café, Tanygroes. The funds were raised at the group’s annual vintage show which took place at Glanllyn Fields near Penrhiwpal, Newcastle Emlyn on Monday 29th May this year.
The Teifi Valley Vintage Club was formed by a small group of vintage vehicle enthusiasts in 1981. The group has steadily grown and now boasts a membership of around sixty regular members from Ceredigion, and areas of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire bordering the Teifi Valley. From 1983 onward, the club has hosted an annual vintage show to display a range of classic and vintage vehicles.
The family friendly event, in its 34th year, saw the largest number of exhibits to date with nearly 170 tractors including Ford and Fordson models, 150 cars, over 40 motorcycles, commercial vehicles and stationary engines on display. In addition to these magnificent vehicles, there were three steam traction engines in attendance, a portable steam engine, sawmilling and threshing demonstrations. Locally produced items were on show and for sale in the Crafts and Model marquee whilst activities such as a tug of war helped entertain the younger children attending the show.
Thanks to the generosity of those that attended the vintage show raised £5600. The fundraising was split between five very worthy organisations. In addition to the £1500 presented to Prostate Cymru, the funds awarded to other beneficiaries were as follows: £1500 to The Oxygen Therapy Unit in Cardigan, £1000 to Wales Air Ambulance, £1000 to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital and £600 to Troedyraur YFC.
