Ride with Purpose: Join the Five Valleys Sportive 2025 to Support Men in Wales

The Five Valleys is back on Sunday 11th August 2025 as cyclists come together to support men in Wales with prostate cancer.

Whether you’re a seasoned club cyclist, a dedicated enthusiast, or someone who simply enjoys the open road, the Five Valleys Sportive promises a challenge like no other.

Starting in Margam Park, Swansea, participants can choose between two routes: a 54-mile course for those seeking a manageable yet rewarding ride or the full 72-mile challenge for those ready to push themselves further.

Both routes offer stunning views, historic climbs, and the camaraderie of cycling alongside hundreds of fellow riders.

This event has a rich history, tracing its roots back to 1958 when the Port Talbot Wheelers introduced it as a road race.

Over the years, it became one of Wales’s most celebrated cycling events, known for its gruelling climbs, including the legendary Bwlch and Rhigos mountains.

It was the only Welsh race to achieve Star Trophy status, now known as the Premier Calendar. Today, the Sportive keeps that legacy alive, blending the tradition of a challenging ride with the modern appeal of an inclusive and impactful event.

Participation in the Five Valleys Sportive isn’t just about the ride—it’s about making a difference.

All funds raised stay in Wales, supporting Prostate Cymru’s essential work in raising awareness, funding research, and improving treatment for prostate health issues.

While fundraising isn’t mandatory, riders are encouraged to aim for a minimum of £50 to receive a free cycling cap.

Riders will benefit from well-stocked feed stations along the route and receive a disposable timing chip to track their progress.

Registration is straightforward, with early bird entry priced at just £45, while those who prefer to sign up on the day can do so for £55

You can also purchase an entry and official Prostate Cymru jersey bundle for just £80, saving £25 on the jersey’s standalone price. This exclusive jersey is a perfect memento of your ride and a great way to show your support for Prostate Cymru.

Cycling clubs, or groups of 10, can also take advantage of a fantastic group discount. For group registrations, contact Ellie Jug at [email protected].

Whether you ride to beat your personal best or to enjoy the scenic beauty of South Wales, every mile pedaled brings hope to those fighting prostate cancer.

This August take on the challenge, and ride for a cause that truly matters.
