The Mike Phillips Charity Golf Day 2025

Mike Phillips is once again hosting his third consecutive golf day for Prostate Cymru, a charity that plays a crucial role in supporting men affected by prostate cancer across Wales.

Phillips, the former Welsh rugby international, has been a dedicated advocate for raising awareness and funds for this important cause.

His efforts have made a significant impact, and his continued commitment to Prostate Cymru has been evident year after year.

In 2024, Phillips, along with Tommy Williams and Paul Kirk, was honored with the Team of the Year award at the charity’s Fundraising Awards Dinner, the Blue Tie Ball.

This recognition came after they successfully raised over £20,000 for Prostate Cymru.

This year the golf day will be held on Friday 27th June at Derllys Court Golf Club, Carmarthen.

Prostate Cymru is dedicated to educating the public about prostate cancer, a disease that affects 1 in 8 men in Wales and leads to around 12,000 deaths from the condition across the UK annually.

Tina Tew, Chief Executive of Prostate Cymru, said, “Early detection is key to saving lives, as many men find out they have prostate cancer by complete chance, often when it is too late to treat effectively. While the disease is more common in older men, the risk increases for men over 50 or those with a family history of prostate cancer.”

She continued, “Prostate cancer is not exclusive to older men, and men aged 45 with a family history of the disease are also at higher risk. Unfortunately, there is no national screening program for prostate cancer, but a simple PSA test, which measures prostate-specific antigen levels in the blood, is available. Prostate Cymru encourages men with concerns about their health to consult their GP or practice nurse about the test. The charity also offers support through its specialist nurse, available Monday to Friday from 4pm-8pm on 08000 470 200. With Phillips’ golf day continuing to raise funds and awareness, Prostate Cymru’s work remains more critical than ever.”
