At Tenby Inner Wheel’s recent 73rd birthday celebration, President Margaret Jones presented Ruth Webb with a cheque for £750. Inner Wheel members raised the funds for Prostate Cymru at a recent function held at Church House. The cheese and wine evening was a feast of historical information and understanding.
The speaker was David Petersen – a Welsh sculptor, cultural commentator and television presenter based in St. Clears. He is known for his metal sculpture of The Mametz Wood memorial, located on the site of the action in northern France, of a large red dragon holding barbed wire, mounted on a stone plinth.
His fascinating and absorbing topic for the evening was Princess Nest of Deheubarth– the Helen of Wales- with close connections to Carew Castle. David also brought along numerous small sculptures of Nest which enthralled the audience.
Ruth of The Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru thanked Margaret and Inner Wheel members for their hard work and generosity and assured them that the monies would be well utilised to help the ‘Males in Wales’ undergoing prostate cancer and in spreading awareness and information.
