Prostate Cymru held its annual ambassadors lunch on Friday 4th March at The Vale Resort. Over 100 people, including fundraisers and several local Welsh businesses, joined the charity for the enjoyable afternoon.
Prostate Cymru Chairman Andy Thomas gave a short presentation raising awareness of prostate diseases and shared what the charity had achieved during 2015. Andy also expressed his gratitude to all those who have fundraised for the charity. Event attendees helped raise money during the lunch by participating in the raffle, silent auction and a rugby ball sweep in which one lucky guest per table won a Rhino rugby ball signed by Prostate Cymru’s rugby ambassadors.
The charity also launched its inaugural fundraising awards. Host Eddie Butler and Prostate Cymru President David Brace OBE presented Joseph Evans and Gwen Morgan, Kenfig Hill RFC and Henry Durrant with the awards for Young Fundraiser of the Year, Fundraising Team of the Year and Fundraiser of the Year respectively.
Another highlight of the afternoon was a question and answer session featuring rugby ambassadors and former British and Irish Lions John Devereux, Gareth Davies, Bob Norster and Graham Price MBE. Hosted by Eddie Butler, the ambassadors discussed the current Six Nations, game techniques, promising players and the safety of the sport.
