Amcor, a packaging solutions company based in Swansea, have raised a grand total of £2534.85 for their chosen charity Prostate Cymru in the last year.
After Amcor sadly lost one of their colleagues to prostate cancer the company chose Prostate Cymru to be their chosen charity that they would help raise awareness and fundraise for throughout 2019.
Amcor is an international company that delivers packaging for food and consumer products, as well as medical and pharmaceutical companies.
Over 200 men work for Amcor in Swansea so they were keen to raise awareness for their workers about prostate issues such as benign prostate disease and prostate cancer.
The issue was the employees shift patters so working in partnership with Prostate Cymru, Amcor were able to organise eight sessions over one month with awareness presenter Andy Brown to ensure all men were given the short talk.
Talking about the partnership Amcor said, “The response and partnership we had with them has been fantastic and the charity very kindly delivered four presentations, tailored to suit all shift patterns, providing advice and awareness, formative presentations and materials from an excellent speaker and prostate cancer survivor Andy Brown.”
Over the course of Prostate Cymru being Amcor’s chosen charity some of their employees took on the Three Peaks challenge, scaling the three highest peaks in Britain: Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell Park (England) and Snowdon (Wales).
The challenge was a great bonding exercise for the team as they travelled together between peaks and encouraged each other to reach the summits of each mountain.
Without the fantastic support of corporate partners like Amcor, we would struggle to improve Welsh prostate health all across the country.
