A naked calendar featuring a group of friends from Porthcawl raised £1685.43 for Prostate Cymru. The calendar, which cost £5 per copy, was sold at the Ancient Briton from Autumn 2014 to mid 2015 and the pub also accepted donations for the charity.
The group were inspired to support the organisation after local resident, Bethan Davies was involved in a play the ‘Calendar Girls’ where the Women’s Institute fundraised for a local hospital by posing nude for a calendar.
Bethan Davies and her partner Phil Duckworth put the idea to their friends in the local pub, The Ancient Briton. Speaking about the idea, Bethan Davies said, “We all agreed that this would be a perfect way to help raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer as it is one of the most common cancers in Welsh men.”
