A team of 170 walked almost 30 miles from the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff to Kenfig Hill Rugby Club for The Big Walk 2015 in aid of Prostate Cymru.
The team arrived at the stadium bright and early to start the walk. Congregating on the covered pitch inside the stadium, the walkers were greeted by surprise guests Gethin Jenkins and Rhys Priestland who cheered and supported the team at the start line as they set off on the immense challenge.
Taking the walk’s motto “Believe, Commit, Succeed” to heart, the group tackled the challenge with a positive mental attitude as they followed the route through Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend. After approximately 9 hours the team crossed the finish line at Kenfig Hill Rugby Club where a large welcome party of family and friends congratulated the trekkers. Walkers enjoyed the post-walk entertainment provided by the rugby club including live music by Jaxed.
The Big Walk was launched in 2014 with a team of approximately 60 walkers. The annual event has grown in popularity and size with almost triple the number of walkers participating in The Big Walk 2015.
Congratulations to all who took part in The Big Walk 2015 for completing the challenge and thank you to everyone who has donated to Prostate Cymru so far. Please continue to support the team: www.justgiving.com/teams/bigwalk2015
