Our team spent another weekend in the sunshine as they visited the Bridgend County Show at the Pencoed Campus of Bridgend College from Friday 13th July – Sunday 15th July. The team over the weekend included Urology nurse Gaynor Newton, Prostate Cymru’s Head of Awareness Dai John, Chief Executive Tina Tew, Communications Assistant Catherine Felton, Marketing and Events Intern Hannah Reynolds and volunteer Rhys Felton. Prostate Cymru’s mascot Wesley the Walnut made a brief special guest appearance on the Saturday morning.
Over the course of the three days the team spoke to hundreds of people about their prostate health, what the charity does to help men in Wales and our events including The Big Walk and the upcoming Five Valleys Sportive. The younger members of the Prostate Cymru team also made some canine friends at the dog-friendly show, petting the dogs as their owners received advice about prostate issues.
The “Boys Bus” and Prostate Cymru stand was very close to the main ring where a number of exhibitions took place over the weekend such as karate demonstrations, canicross (running with dogs), Aberthin vintage tractors and a flashmob performed by the Dance Centre Academy Bridgend. Elsewhere across the showground were showjumping and equine events, fairground rides and a number of stalls selling local and national produce.
