The annual Broad Haven Xmas Pudding Run took place on Sunday 9th December. Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales supporting men with benign prostate disease and prostate cancer, was one of the nominated charities to benefit from this year’s event. The popular event started on the beach at midday and an incredible 300 people including the charity’s Events & Marketing Coordinator Owen Pugsley took part in the run.
Organised by Hazel Rudder and licensed by the Welsh Athletics Association, the Xmas Pudding Run is a 10km road run around the beautiful village of Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire. In addition to the main race there are also mini ‘pud’ runs for participants up to the age of 15. Some runners wore fancy dress to compete for the John Hart Memorial Trophy in memory of the former Broad Haven resident and committee member of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru who was a huge supporter of the event.
Each participant received a Christmas pudding and medal on crossing the finish line. Following the run, The Ocean Cafe, Bar and Restaurant provided complimentary mulled wine and mince pies for entrants. The Prostate Cymru team were based in The Ocean to raise awareness of prostate issues and chat about the charity’s work. There were also fun games such as ‘Guess the name of the bear’. The team spoke to around 150 people about prostate health and the charity during the event.
