A catholic church in Porthcawl, Bridgend has raised £377 for Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales supporting men with benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. Our Lady Star of the Sea Porthcawl is part of a parish in the Archdiocese of Cardiff which also includes St Joseph of Arimathea in Kenfig Hill and Pyle.
The church nominated Prostate Cymru as the beneficiary of its fundraising following a member of the congregation, Mr Scott Kenny, taking part in an epic cycle from Nice to Rome the previous year. Scott’s family held a cake sale in the church which raised a fantastic £150 and a number of other activities throughout the year including a hog roast raised a further £227 for the charity.
