Around 70 people attended the monthly Cardiff Breakfast Club networking event at the SSE SWALEC stadium in Sophia Gardens early on Friday 17th May. The event, organised jointly by Effective Communication and Blake Morgan LLP, features a guest speaker each month and Prostate Cymru’s Chairman Andy Thomas and ambassador Eddie Butler were invited to speak at the May event.
Following half an hour of networking from 7:30am, attendees from a variety of businesses headed up to the Amber Energy Lounge for the presentation ‘Prostates & Rugby In Wales’. Each attendee received a pin badge and awareness leaflet from the charity.
Following an introduction from Lloyds Bank, one of the sponsors of the event, Prostate Cymru’s Chairman Andy Thomas took to the stage. His presentation included information about the prostate, the charity’s work (past and future projects) and upcoming events. Rugby legend and broadcaster Eddie Butler shared tales of his playing days at Pontypool RFC and memories of his fundraising experiences for Prostate Cymru such as Touching The Sun, an expedition to climb five volcanoes in Ecuador!
Andy and Eddie shared the stage for a question and answer session with many interesting questions about prostate health being asked. As the session concluded Cardiff Breakfast Club announced that the organisation would be donating £500 to the charity to continue the good work they do. The event ended with attendees enjoying a delicious cooked breakfast.
