Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales, has been chosen as the nominated charity for Carmarthen Warrior’s 20th anniversary year. Since the team’s inception in 2000, the West Wales based Carmarthenshire Warriors have evolved from a group of local players into one of the UK’s leading invitational rugby sevens sides.
The squad has enjoyed success nationally and internationally with highlights including winning at Majorca Beach Rugby, Windsor 7s, Manchester 7s, Cwmtawe 7s, Aberaeron 7s and Newport Pembs 7s to name a few. As recognition of the outstanding regular performances on the pitch, many of the Carmarthenshire Warriors players get selected to play at higher levels such as the IRB World Series and full international level.
Over the twenty years, the squad has developed and grown to include a ladies team and legends veterans team. Since 2015, the legends veteran side have been committed to raising money for charity, raising over £25,000 to date. The team’s main fundraising night will be their annual dinner and presentation night which is hugely popular amongst the rugby community and attracts big name speakers and VIP guests.
