TV and radio personality Carol Vorderman joined members of Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru for their The Big Walk on a recent blustery morning at Porthgain Harbour for a challenging hike on the coastal path.
Carol Vorderman has recently become the first female ambassador for Prostate Cymru, and the lack of sunshine on the day was more than made up for by the passion and enthusiasm Carol displayed in her support for Prostate Cymru.
The group were also joined by Prostate Cymru’s chairman, consultant urologist Andy Thomas.
This is all part of The Big Walk, a fundraising event hosted by the charity annually.
In past years the event has taken place on one day in July, with participants walking 26 miles for Prostate Cymru, however for the past two years the event has been virtual, with supporters walking a distance of 26 miles during the month of July.
Many achieve this by walking a mile a day, whilst others choose to complete the challenge in one day.
Those who choose to raise £50 for the charity with their Big Walk will receive a commemorative t-shirt and medal to say thank you to those who choose to walk as this event is a vital source of revenue for the charity.
If you’d like to sign up today for The Big Walk click here.
Don’t forget, if you sign up before the 31st July and raise £50 you will also be entered into Prostate Cymru’s prize draw with some fantastic prizes kindly gifted by Dunraven Windows, Radnor Hills, and Peak Supps.
With 1 in 8 men affected by prostate cancer, which becomes 1 in 3 if there is a family history, fundraising remains critical in enabling Prostate Cymru to continue playing a major part in making the best possible treatments available to all Welsh men in the ongoing battle with prostate cancer.
