Cefn Sidan Rotary Club have shown that they are masters at raising money for charity while having fun along the way and also involving the community.
At the beginning of his year as President of the club Mark Stephens heard a presentation by Prostate Cymru’s Head of Awareness Dai John at a Rotary Conference and got the club to agree that Prostate Cymru would be the main charity for his year in office. This decision was against a background of several members of the club and their families having had their lives touched by prostate cancer.
The end result was the club contributing a resounding £6,500 for Prostate Cymru. This money was raised at events as diverse as the Dai Gravell Memorial Golf Day, a stand at the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli, Father’s Day Rotary Cycle Ride, Coffee Morning and an art exhibition arranged by Godfrey Rees entitled “The Affordable Picture Show” which raised £2,800.
In addition the club contributed a further £6,000 to international and local charities at their presentation evening on 3rd November.
