Russell Hughes-Pickering from Aberystwyth was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer when he was just 48. He successfully underwent robotic surgery in the Heath Hospital in Cardiff.
He has since expressed his desire to give something back following his own positive outcome and has personally raised nearly £5000 which he has donated to Prostate Cymru.
John Daniels and Brian Harries of Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru recently met up with Russell and spoke at length to him about the positive impact Pembrokeshire Friends has had in their county. Russell was very receptive to the idea of building a friendship group in the Ceredigion area and with 2500 Welshmen diagnosed with the disease each year, this is a positive and exciting step forward for the charity.
