Prostate Cymru is proud to welcome former Welsh rugby captain Colin Charvis as its newest ambassador, supporting a powerful new campaign to raise prostate cancer awareness across Wales.
Colin’s involvement brings a vital voice to Prostate Cymru’s efforts, encouraging men to take charge of their health with early detection and regular health checks.
This new initiative, launched with prominent billboards in towns and cities across the country, underlines Prostate Cymru’s commitment to educating the Welsh public about the significance of early diagnosis and detection.
With a clear message—“early diagnosis can save lives”—the campaign seeks to inform men that prostate cancer can often go unnoticed until advanced stages, underscoring the critical importance of a PSA test over the age of 45.
Discussing the campaign, Colin said, “I’m backing Prostate Cymru’s campaign because of my age, background, and the statistics I’ve seen. We all need to be aware that 1 in 8 men in Wales are likely to face a prostate cancer diagnosis, and for men of colour, that risk is doubled.”
Beyond his dedication to Prostate Cymru, Colin’s life after rugby has seen him flourish as a successful director of his own flooring company, a popular rugby pundit, and most recently, an ambassador for Kit Sportswear—a brand focused on creating durable, comfortable, and performance-driven sportswear.

The statistics are indeed sobering: 1 in 8 men in Wales will face a prostate cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. For those with a family history, the risk rises to 1 in 3, and Black men are even more affected, with 1 in 4 diagnosed.
These figures emphasise the urgency of raising awareness and encouraging men to be proactive about their health.
Colin Charvis’s role as an ambassador is already inspiring men of all backgrounds to be vigilant, highlighting how early health checks can make a life-saving difference.
The campaign’s striking billboards, developed with Route Media, deliver key health information in high-visibility locations across Wales, sparking conversations and encouraging men to take charge of their well-being.
