Over the late May bank holiday weekend Prostate Cymru attended the annual Cowbridge Food & Drink Festival as part of the charity’s summer roadshow, raising awareness of prostate issues across Wales. The popular festival in the Vale of Glamorgan market town celebrated its fifteenth year this year. The festival takes place over a number of sites in the town including The Old Hall Gardens (where Prostate Cymru’s gazebo was based), the Arthur John site, the Bear Hotel and field and the Duke of Wellington which was a dedicated vegan site this year. A number of local producers attend the festival providing samples and selling their delicious food to attendees such as Taffy’s Treats Fudge, Calon Cakes, Samosa Co, The Welsh Cheese Company and Meat and Greek.
Despite the pouring rain on Sunday 26th May Prostate Cymru’s team were raising awareness of prostate issues, handing out leaflets and scratchcards with key facts about prostate diseases. Prostate Cymru’s Head of Awareness Dai John was joined by ambassadors Chris Jones and Terry Walton and specialist urology nurse Gaynor Newton. The weather was a bit calmer and brighter on Monday 27th May when Dai and Gaynor were joined by trustees John Daniels and Lyn Murray and Communications Assistant Catherine Felton. The charity would like to thank everyone who took an awareness leaflet, made a donation or stopped to have a chat.
