Maesteg based choir Cor Merched Cwm Llynfi performed to a full house at Kenfig Hill RFC at their charity concert for Prostate Cymru on Friday 27th April. The concert was compered by Tony Mullins and also featured Mynydd Cynffig Primary School Choir.
Both choirs performed a variety of songs in each half of the concert such as hits from film soundtracks, popular music, jazz and well known Welsh melodies. The packed programme included Feed The Birds from Mary Poppins, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Gershwin For Girls and Bendegedig.
Cor Merched Cwm Llynfi are a non-auditioning female voice choir with around thirty members. The choir has previously performed locally in Bridgend, Coity, Maesteg and Porthcawl in addition to international tours including France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. Paul Deenik is the choir’s musical director with Laura Deenik as the accompanist. Mynydd Cynnfig Primary School Choir is made up of pupils in years 5 and 6 who rehearse weekly after school and perform regularly at concerts in the local areas of Kenfig Hill, Pyle and Porthcawl.
