Congratulations to Emily England, from Blaenllechau who has successfully completed the challenging Great North Swim to help raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cymru.
Talking about the challenging Emily said, ”Only when I went through the check- in point it finally dawned on me what I was about to do.
“I found the first half a mile the hardest as it was difficult trying to swim in between everyone, but once I found space it was easier.
“At one point I felt I couldn’t do it but I kept thinking in my head of the charity and what the people who are suffering from this terrible disease – that kept me going.”
Emily’s initial target was £500 but she has already raised over £2,600 by holding fundraising events such as the charity evening that she organised with Percy Beere of Anchor Lodge and her Grandfather Raymond Roberts who is also from Blaenllechau.
Speaking about beating her original target Emily said, ”The support has been overwhelming and I can’t believe how much I have raised considering my target was £500!”
“I would like to thank everyone who sponsored me and donated money. I would also like to thank everyone at Prostate Cymru for being so helpful and supportive of my challenge.
“I am so happy that I have raised this much and hopefully my challenge and fundraising has raised awareness of prostate cancer.”
Emily, thank you for helping to raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cymru.
