Carmarthenshire’s Laugharne Corporation donate £500 to Prostate Cymru to help the charity fulfil their core aims of raising awareness and supporting funding for new innovative technology.
Located in Carmarthenshire, the Laugharne Corporation is among the last surviving medieval corporations in the UK, dating back to 1290 when it was granted the status by Royal Charter.
The Corporation is very active in the community and has taken on the responsibility of cutting the grass on the costal path in the Laugharne area as well as other tasks with the work being carried out by Burgess Clive Roberts.
In acknowledgement for their work, they were awarded £500, which the Laugharne Corporation have kindly decided to donate to Prostate Cymru for the second year running.
Presenting the cheque, The Portreeve Matthew Thomas, said, “We are pleased once again as a Corporation to support a Welsh Charity which gives such support to men and their families who are affected by Prostate Cancer in both raising awareness and providing medical support.”
Receiving the cheque, Carmarthenshire Friends of Prostate Cymru Chairman Deric Rees said, “Once again Laugharne Corporation has generously supported the work of Prosate Cymru and we are very grateful for their efforts. This money is more important than ever due to the difficult times that have been experienced due to COVID in raising money in the Charity sector”.
