Prostate Cymru is to receive a £4000 Community Award from the Masonic Charitable Foundation following an unprecedented public vote. The community awards are a major part of Freemasonry’s 300th anniversary celebrations. The Masonic Charitable Foundation used a vote to distribute three million pounds to three hundred charities across the country.
Prostate Cymru was nominated by Freemasons in South Wales to be in with a chance of receiving a community award. The public voted to decide the level of the award. The public vote was unprecedented for the Masonic Charitable Foundation with 178,801 people voting for charities across England and Wales.
Tina Tew, Chief Executive at Prostate Cymru said: “The grant of £4000 which we have been awarded following the public vote is hugely important. We are grateful to every person who voted for us and supported the charity. We plan to use this community award to help develop online prostate education systems for GPs, medical students and the public.”
Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Gareth Jones, OBE from South Wales Freemasons said: “We are delighted that so many people voted in our province of South Wales and across the United Kingdom to help charities through the Masonic Charitable Foundation Community Awards.
