A memorial charity tractor run took place on 21st July in Carmarthenshire in aid of Prostate Cymru. The event was held in memory of Roy Evans who sadly passed away from prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men in Wales, after seventeen years with the condition. The well-attended event was organised by Roy’s family and the Kidwelly Tractor Boys group of which Roy was a former member.
An enjoyable day was had by all as the participants took part in the 25 mile run around the local area. Starting in Penybont Fields in Trimsaran, the thirty participating tractors followed the route on and off road through areas including Llandyfaelog, Mynydd y Garreg, Pontantwn, Ferryside, Pinged and Kidwelly. In addition to the tractor run, Mr Phil Young also held a stationary display of vintage machinery. The fantastic day led to a brilliant total of £760 being raised for Prostate Cymru.
Roy’s family said: “We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made a donation and supported the event in any way. Special thanks to Mike Evans from Kidwelly Tractor Club for organising the event and to Mr Phillip Young for hosting the event at his farm. We are exceptionally happy with the amount of money raised and are overwhelmed by the support received from family, friends and local people.”
