Unfortunately, with the current uncertainty, the Midsummer Concert, organised by the Welsh Association of Male Choirs, due to be held at St David’s Hall on the 20th June has been postponed.
The evening, in support of Prostate Cymru, was to feature 12 male choirs and 400 choristers, Musical Director Dr Alwyn Humphreys MBE and singer and broadcaster Beverley Humphreys. The celebration also included award winning soloists Eirlys Myfanwy Davies (mezzo soprano) and Osian Wyn Bowen (Tenor).
Tina Tew, Chief Executive of Prostate Cymru, said, “We would like to thank everyone taking part in this musical extravaganza, with a special mention to the committee members of the Welsh Association of Male Choirs, for all their hard work in the preparation to date. We are of course keeping track of all the latest advice and guidelines and hope that the event can take place in some capacity in the future.”
Richard Howells, Chairman of the Welsh Association of Male Choirs said, “Of course we are disappointed that the June event will not be going ahead, especially as preparation had really gained momentum, but the health and safety of the nation must take priority. We would like to thank sponsors Dunraven for their pledge of support and to everyone who had purchased tickets for the event. Hopefully, at the appropriate time, we will be able to reorganise the concert to showcase Welsh music at its best.
St David’s Hall Box office will be contacting everyone who has bought tickets to arrange refunds.
