A special night was held at The Beggars Reach Hotel, Burton on Friday 28th April when President Katharine East and the members of the Milford Haven Inner Wheel organised an evening in the company of allotment guru Terry Walton, the gardening expert of the Jeremy Vine Show and a regular contributor for Radio Wales, which raised £1,300 for Prostate Cymru. The main organiser of the event was Brenda Peake who was assisted by Audrey Hancock and the ladies of the Inner Wheel.
A large audience, who enjoyed a buffet supper, were amused and informed in equal measure, as Terry shared his tales, experience and knowledge of his gardening experiences.
The audience were captivated by his stories from the allotment in the Rhondda Valley and particularly the plot that he regularly broadcasts from on the Jeremy Vine Show. He shared his experiences of being a “born again” organic gardener because of his strategic way of growing all his produce using natural means of nourishing them.
Terry was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012 and is dedicated to helping prostate cancer sufferers as an Ambassador for Prostate Cymru by regularly raising awareness of the disease which affects 1 in 8 men and leads to 550 men dying of it each year in Wales.
