Prostate Cymru is the leading charity in Wales dedicated to supporting men with urological issues such as benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. The charity receives no national or government funding and relies on the generosity of its fundraisers and volunteers to help fulfil their key aims including raising awareness across Wales, supporting the latest medical equipment and training of healthcare professionals, research and innovation and support the education of medical professionals and students.
Through the continued support received through public donation, the charity is proud to launch its new telephone helpline. The helpline, which will be manned by specialist nurse Gaynor Newton, will provide invaluable expert advice along with a listening ear to those in need. The helpline will assist men across the nation, allowing them to consult a nurse during the diagnosis process and after receiving treatment regarding any concerns they may have. The free to call phone number (08000 470200) will be manned between the hours of 4:00pm and 8:00pm from Monday to Friday.
The helpline service has been installed by Cwmbran based telecommunications provider RPS Technology Solutions. RPS are Wales’ premier Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP), pioneering with hosted voice over IP telecoms solutions. RPS have a commitment to aiding Prostate Cymru, having previously assisted by installing their telecommunications solutions to the charity’s office in Cardiff. In March, they announced Prostate Cymru as their chosen charity and have committed ever since to supporting them with the vital work they undertake, completing a number of fundraising activities and challenges.
Owen Pugsley, Corporate Events and Marketing Executive at Prostate Cymru, said: “We are extremely grateful for the work that RPS Technology Solutions have done to assist our charity. Their latest effort is going to benefit Prostate Cymru massively because it means we can now have a solution in place that allows men in Wales to contact and speak to a specialist nurse regarding queries and issues relating to their disease.”
Natalie Strange, Operations and Marketing Manager at RPS Technology Solutions, said: “Here at RPS, we are proud to continue our support for Prostate Cymru. The work they carry out is vital for men across Wales and it is an honour to assist where we can. The specialist helpline will provide a brilliant service that we hope will have a positive effect on many people.”
