The Pedal4Prostate team are completing their challenge of epic proportions as they complete 1000 miles in 9 consecutive days for Prostate Cymru.
So far, they have already raised an incredible £9,720.
This week the team are cycling from John O’Groats in Scotland, to Land’s End in Cornwall no matter what the weather.
The team plan to travel an average of 100 miles per day all in aid of Prostate Cymru.
Talking about his motivation for the challenge, event organiser Jonathan Morgan said, “Prostate cancer and men’s health is something that’s become more and more important in my life these past few years, the work that Prostate Cymru do is fantastic and I wanted to help in any way I could. Last year saw me conquer Kilimanjaro and sport some serious facial furniture for Movember. I was due to climb Mt Toukbal with Brian [Stokes] this year, who’s doing the cycle with me, but due to Covid we were unable to. So, I decided to set off and search for a UK Based challenge.”
He said, “Speaking with Ben [Garvey] we both agreed we needed a challenge and something to focus on for training, and 1000 miles in 9 days is one heck of a challenge. One thing to bear in mind of the 3 mentioned here none aren’t cyclists – at all. Saying that 6/7 of the group didn’t have bikes!”
Currently taking on the challenge are Jonathan Morgan, Brian Stokes, Ben Garvey, Ashley James, Chris Thomas, Gareth John, Steven Beddoes and Wayne Gray.

Speaking about the team, Jonathan said, “So, the challenge was set, the route planned, and I’ve amassed a team I have complete confidence in. There’ll be 7 of us with one support driver. It’s a big challenge but we’re excited to get started, training began this week for some of us. The group is a mixture of friends and business owners I socialise with who are all up for a challenge and happy to begin fundraising for such an important cause.”
The money raised by the Pedal4Prostate team will help raise awareness about prostate cancer and disease, support treatments and improve equipment for prostate disease, and fund research and innovation across Wales to ensure that men suffering with prostate disease have access to the best available treatments from the NHS in Wales.
