Pedal4Prostate have raised an incredible £15,000 for Prostate Cymru with their first challenge John O’Groats to Land’s End.
The team took on the gruelling challenge of 1000 miles in 9 days cycling from Scotland to Cornwall.
Taking on the challenge was Jonathan Morgan, Brian Stokes, Ben Garvey, Rhodri Jervis, Gareth John, Richard Wanklyn and driver Chris Davies, sponsored by Consumer Energy Solutions and Peter Morgan and ITCS.
Speaking about the fundraiser, Jonathan Morgan said, “I absolutely loved the whole process of John O’Groats to Land’s End, from the planning and prep to the actual cycling! That camaraderie of being with my team, through thick thin, and what felt like every mountain pass in England full of rain! I LOVED it. But mainly knowing what amazing work Prostate Cymru do and that the efforts of every single person that donated helped was such a uplifting and satisfying yet humbling thought.”
After the success of the challenge, the team have decided to continue their fundraising challenges in 2022 as they take on Paris to Barcelona.
Jonathan Morgan said, “I can’t wait to be doing it all again next year. Covid is a worry, but we’re looking to take another longer challenge this time of Paris to Barcelona with an even bigger group! More details to follow soon but we’re aiming for May. We’d love help and support in the form of riders, support volunteers, drivers or donations.”
The money raised by the Pedal4Prostate team will help raise awareness about prostate cancer and disease, support treatments and improve equipment for prostate disease, and fund research and innovation across Wales to ensure that men suffering with prostate disease have access to the best available treatments from the NHS in Wales.
