To celebrate his 60th birthday in October Danny Griffiths decided to embark on a year of fundraising for Prostate Cymru. Danny chose to support the charity as the cause is close to his heart following his father’s prostate cancer diagnosis.
To date Danny has completed a number of sporting events including 10K runs and half marathons and challenges such as abseiling. One of Danny’s recent fundraising events was a charity dance event organised with the help of Pembrokeshire Jive and Lindy Group. The fun evening took place on Friday 9th June at Pill Social Centre in Milford Haven.
Guests danced the night away to swing music from the 1940s and 1950s, rock n roll and jazz music performed by The Numbers Racket, the UK’s premier six piece jive and swing band based in West Wales. Funds were raised by ticket admission and through a raffle of fourteen brilliant prizes including golf at The Celtic Manor Resort and tickets for a Glamorgan T20 cricket match.
Donations on the night totalling £1216 were presented to Ian Gravell, representing Prostate Cymru and the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru group. A number of small donations were made following the event bringing the dance’s total to £1281. Danny is still collecting donations via his JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/DannyGriffiths60 as he gears up to take on his final four challenges: Cardiff Triathlon, a Zip Wire challenge, The Five Valleys Sportive and Cardiff Half Marathon.
