The Porthcawl Lions Club held their annual charity golf day at The Grove Golf Club in Porthcawl on Friday 3rd June for Prostate Cymru and Sandville Self Help Centre. This is an annual show of support for the charity by Porthcawl Lions for which we are very grateful.
Teams enjoyed participating in the golf challenge in the sunshine, helping to raise £1000 for Prostate Cymru. The team from The Pier Hotel won first prize with 100 points with South Wales Police and The Greys taking second and third place respectively. In the Ladies section, Janise Richards’ team won the prize.
Other competitions were held on the day including longest drive, nearest the pin, the Lions Cup and the highest number of lost balls. Paul Wilby of P & K Terns and Anne Thomas won the longest drive for the men and ladies sections accordingly. G Wilcox of the Pier Hotel and Jan Riddell won nearest the pin for the men and ladies sections. Jim Hamilton of Hereford Lions lost the most golf balls out of all the participants with a grand total of 111 balls lost. To conclude the prize giving, the Lions Cup was awarded to Maesteg Lions Club.
Prostate Cymru would like to thank Porthcawl Lions for their continued support.
