The Prostate Cymru Allstars are preparing for their 2019 season and have entered six competitions. The Prostate Cymru Allstars are an invitational rugby sevens team from South Wales who play in a number of tournaments in the summer to raise awareness of prostate issues and support the charity.
This year the team will be heading to the following competitions: Hartpury 7s (18th May), Trimsaran 7s (26th May), Old Pens 7s (8th June), Sundogs 7s (22nd June), Heart of Wales 7s (6th July) and Tondu Evs 7s (27th July).
The team are managed by Michael Guy and captained by Ben Jones and Morgan Griffiths who share the captaincy. The squad includes players from across South Wales such as Chris Leyshon, Josh Davies, Leon McNally, Samuel Palmer, Jamie John, Mikey Kennedy, Luke Griffiths, Tom Davies, Gareth Rees, Connor Tantum, Curtis Kerton and Connor Law.
In addition to raising awareness at the sevens tournament, the players have been fundraising for Prostate Cymru, the leading prostate health charity in Wales supporting men with benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. Several of the players braved the cold on Christmas Day to take a dip in the sea as part of Porthcawl Christmas Morning Swim and earlier this year the team organised a ladies afternoon at Kenfig Hill RFC in Bridgend to raise funds for the charity.
