Prostate Cymru is delighted to announce Lyn Jones as a new ambassador for the charity.
Lyn Jones is a former Wales international player, and the former head coach at Ospreys, Dragons, and Russian National Team.
Lyn recently opened up about his battle with prostate cancer publicly to encourage men to be more aware of the dangers of prostate cancer and to get a PSA test.
As part of his bid to raise awareness and fund research into the disease, Lyn aims to take on two big treks this year for Prostate Cymru as well as a Charity Golf Day.
Lyn will be trekking Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, and joining Prostate Cymru for their fundraiser The Big Trek to Machu Picchu, Peru.
So far on his JustGiving page, Lyn has already raised over £4000 for the charity, and any donations are greatly appreciated.
Speaking about being a Prostate Cymru ambassador, Lyn said, “I’m delighted to be included as an ambassador. I want to support Prostate Cymru now and commit to raising vital funds this year with my treks and I’m looking forward to helping the charity.”
Since this, Lyn has been announced as a special guest at the Prostate Cymru Ambassadors Lunch.
He will be a part of the Rugby Legends Q&A at the Lunch on the 27th of May.
Tickets are still available for this event, if you’re interested please email [email protected] or click here for more information.
With prostate cancer being the most diagnosed cancer in men, and 1 in 8 men in Wales being affected by the disease, it is so important for us to get the word out and help raise awareness.
Our ambassadors help fundraise for Prostate Cymru by participating in some of our various events over the year and supporting us as we raise awareness about prostate disease.
We can’t wait to see Lyn’s huge challenges over the next year and be sure to follow us on our socials (@ProstateCymru) for more news on his treks and fundraising.
