In September, Prostate Cymru proudly hosted the Eddie Butler Golf Day for the second consecutive year at the prestigious Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club.
This special event, held in memory of our beloved ambassador Eddie Butler, proved to be a huge success, bringing together golfers from across the country to raise funds in support of prostate cancer awareness and research.
At the end of the tournament, the winning team was honoured with the prestigious Eddie Butler Grogg, a unique and fitting tribute to Eddie’s legacy.
The evening saw Prostate Cymru Ambassador John Deveraux, along with ex-Welsh international Bleddyn Bowen, share entertaining and heartfelt stories about Eddie Butler, celebrating Eddie’s lasting impact on those who knew him.
A highlight of the day was a talk by Dr. Helen Pearson, who shared exciting updates about the Eddie Butler PhD Scholarship, a groundbreaking initiative recently launched by Prostate Cymru.
Dr. Pearson explained how this scholarship is set to advance crucial prostate cancer research, pushing scientific boundaries to deepen our understanding of the disease and ultimately improve treatment options.

This project aligns with Prostate Cymru’s core aims of raising awareness, promoting early detection, funding innovative research, and advancing treatment options for prostate cancer.
Events like the Eddie Butler Golf Day are essential in fulfilling our mission to fund innovative research.
By bringing communities together, these events not only raise vital funds for research but also play a significant role in increasing awareness around prostate cancer, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, sponsored, or supported this year’s Eddie Butler Golf Day.
