Prostate Cymru is pleased to introduce its research and innovation fund, a new initiative to support research projects relating to prostate diseases in men in Wales.
Grants will be awarded by a panel of key urologists from across Wales, representing each health board. Headed by Mr Neil Fenn of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg LHB, the panel consists of Mahmood Shaffi of Hywel Dda LHB; Tim Appanna, Cwm Taf LHB; Krishna Narahari, Cardiff & Vale LHB; Christopher Bates, Aneurin Bevan LHB; Kyriacos Alexandrou, Betsi Cadwaladr LHB and Andy Thomas, Chairman and Founder Trustee of Prostate Cymru.
The one off grants of up to £10,000 can be used to fund small projects or act as a ‘pump priming’ grant to stimulate larger projects. Applications for grants are invited for the following categories:
- Scientific and clinical research
- Innovations in the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of prostate diseases.
Applications for grants from Prostate Cymru’s research and innovation fund should be submitted to [email protected] in the format of a word document. Applications must include the name of the applicant, affiliation, contact details including email address, the category (research or innovations) and a 300 word summary of the proposed project including the hypothesised outcome of how it will help men with prostate diseases and the method of evaluation.
The closing date for the first round of applications is Tuesday 1st November 2016. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application via email. Grants for successful applicants will be awarded in December 2016. Successful applicants are expected to provide the charity and its trustees a mid-point interim report and a full report on the completion of the project.
