Former rugby union and league star John Devereux is taking part in this year’s Five Valleys Sportive on Sunday 4th September for Prostate Cymru. John, who has represented Wales and Great Britain for both rugby codes, will be riding alongside cyclists in the popular sportive event. Previous sportsmen and sportswomen who have taken part in the event include Olympic gold medallist Nicole Cooke and former rugby players Dafydd James, Gwyn Evans and Gareth Cooper.
John has previously supported the charity by attending and speaking about the world of rugby at our annual ambassadors lunch over the last two years. The Prostate Cymru ambassador will be cycling the long route of 72 miles in his first sporting event for the charity and first long distance cycle.
Participants have a choice of a short route (54 miles) and a long route (72 miles). All individuals are welcome to take part in the cycle, whether they are part of a club or just keen cyclists, and have the option of cycling by themselves or in a group. Entry for the event is £25 before the online deadline on Sunday 28th August. Cyclists can sign up online via www.thefivevalleys.co.uk or on British Cycling at https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/150168/The-Five-Valleys-Sportive-
There will also be an opportunity to register on the day for £35.
