Mike Smith was the captain of the men’s team at St Pierre Golf Club in Chepstow in 2015. At the beginning of 2015, Mike decided to select Prostate Cymru to be the nominated charity for the duration of his captaincy.
Mike raised funds by placing buckets and collection pots with pin badges around the course’s clubhouse and ‘halfway house’. His main fundraising event was a Captain’s Day in July which featured a golf tournament followed by a gourmet dinner. Mike’s fellow golfers were extremely supportive and one member of St Pierre Golf Club, Damian Waite, ran the London Marathon in April for Prostate Cymru to support Mike’s fundraising.
In February 2016, Mike Smith presented Prostate Cymru with a cheque for his fundraising total of £5655 at St Pierre Golf Club.
