Prostate Cymru is attending a number of events and festivals this summer to meet the public and raise awareness. The roadshow is part of the charity’s commitment to raising awareness across Wales. It’s a great opportunity for people across Wales to meet the charity, find out what we do and learn about the prostate.
The roadshow started at the end of April at the popular Dunraven Bowl event at Chepstow Racecourse. In mid-May the team attended the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival as the lead charity partner and the Royal Welsh Spring Festival in Builth Wells, raising awareness in the heart of rural Wales. Prostate Cymru’s ambassador Terry Walton and urology nurse Gaynor Newton joined the team at the busy Cowbridge Food Festival, sharing experiences and offering advice.
On 9th June, the team including Community and Sports Officer Chris Leyshon, Marketing and Events Assistant Owen Pugsley, Chief Executive Tina Tew and awareness team member Simon Moffett from the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru, enjoyed the sunshine at the Aberystwyth Show in Ceredigion.
At this event, the charity’s new vehicle “The Boys’ Bus” was on show. The vehicle has kindly been provided by Enterprise, sponsored by Dunraven and fuelled by Oil4Wales. On board the “Boys’ Bus” are members of the awareness team and events team ready to chat about what the charity does, how you can get involved and raising awareness of prostate issues such as benign prostate disease and prostate cancer. For those worried about prostate issues and seeking medical advice, at certain events urology nurses will be on hand to chat confidentially in a private area of the vehicle.
