The Big Walk 2016 was Prostate Cymru’s biggest walk yet with 286 participants taking on the physical and mental challenge of trekking 30 miles from the Principality Stadium, Cardiff to Kenfig Hill RFC, Bridgend. Walkers aimed to raise money for the charity through their participation in the event, fundraising in their local community, at work and online via JustGiving.
Thanks to the efforts of the 286 walkers and the generosity of their friends, family and colleagues The Big Walk 2016 has exceeded fundraising expectations raising an incredible £47,399.80
Chris Leyshon, founder of The Big Walk, said, “We are overwhelmed by the dedication of the walkers and the kindness of those who donated for helping to raise such an impressive figure! It will really make a huge difference to our work raising awareness of prostate cancer and supporting prostate cancer sufferers.”
Prostate Cymru would like to congratulate the following walkers for raising the highest individual sponsorship totals:
- Geraint Evans (Walker no. 271)
- Izabela Kowalewska (Walker no. 52)
- Moira Grant (Walker no. 149)
These walkers have been awarded the top fundraiser prizes for The Big Walk 2016. A special mention should also be made to congratulate and thank the thirty members of Team Sir Martyn Thomas who collectively raised over £10,000 for the charity.
