Prostate Cymru’s The Big Walk is back this July with walks across Wales to help raise both awareness and funds for the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men.
This much-anticipated event promises to blend breathtaking scenery, Welsh heritage, and a noble cause, creating an unforgettable experience for all participants.
Open to individuals of all ages and abilities, The Big Walk offers various routes and distances, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
On the 13th of July, prepare to embark on the Carmarthenshire Circular Walk through Brechfa following the woodland trail to the peak before heading back down to The Forest Arms pub.
The 14th of July presents an opportunity to traverse from Solva to St Davids, soaking in the coastal beauty and cultural richness along the way.
Then, on the 20th of July, explore the picturesque Vale with its circular route or opt for the Neath to Kenfig Hill trail, experiencing the diverse scenery of valleys and hills.
Alternatively, immerse yourself in the scenic wonders of Aberystwyth, a coastal gem beckoning adventurers with its charm.
Whichever date you choose, each walk promises an unforgettable exploration of Wales’ natural and cultural treasures.
Participants can even opt to take on the challenge individually and at their own pace throughout the month.
The Big Walk has a tradition of being inaugurated by renowned figures in Welsh sports.
Previous openers have included rugby icons such as Sir Gareth Edwards, Sam Warburton, adding an extra layer of excitement and prestige to the event.
For a nominal entry fee of £25 for a specific walk, participants will receive a breakfast roll, t-shirt, a guided walk, and post-walk refreshments.
There is also the option to support the charity from afar, at just £10 you can tackle the challenge throughout the month, completing the challenge in a way that suits you.
