The Mid Glamorgan Savoyards performed Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera ‘The Sorcerer’ on Saturday 7th November at Porthcawl Pavilion. The theatre group annually perform at the venue with their shows raising money for local and national charities. This year their performance of ‘The Sorcerer’ was in aid of Prostate Cymru, Macmillan Cancer Care and Save The Children. A total of approximately £2000 was raised altogether, with Prostate Cymru receiving a share of £643.34.
The Sorcerer tells the story of a salesman trying to sell a magic lozenge which has powerful effects. When the lozenge is used there are unexpected yet funny consequences. The show’s magic was enhanced by the accompaniment of a 24 piece professional orchestra. The cast, including Rob Reynolds as the villainous Sorcerer, have received rave reviews.
